How to Tie a Four In Hand Knot

Four in Hand Knot is narrow and thin, very low key and has a centered symmetry. Wearing a casual dress shirt is best suited for this type of necktie knot. Wide neckties work best with this type of necktie knot and is usually made from heavy fabrics.

This tie looks best on men with shorter necks as the knots narrow and lengthy form brings out the actual height of the neck a bit.




Make sure you are in front of the mirror. Tying a necktie might seem a little complicating at first but once you look in the mirror, and practice. You will see that it is much easier than perceived. Here are some instructions on how to tie a necktie.

1) There is a wide end ("W") of your necktie right on the right, you use this to start. It extends about 12 inches below the narrow end ("N") on the left.









2) Cross the wide end over the narrow end








3) You turn the wide end underneath the narrow end of the tie.









4)Continue by bring the wide end back over in front of the narrow end again.









5)The wide end, you need to pull it up and through the loop around your neck.











6) Hold the front of the knot, loosen your grip with your index finger and bring the wide end down through the front loop.









7)Last step is to remove your finger and tighten the knot, (be careful, you can mess the whole knot.) To the collar by holding the narrow end sliding the knot up.
